UPCOMING GALLERY OPENING & EXHIBIT

“Different Strokes” featuring the encaustic paintings of Susan Hess and Francine Michel.

An opening reception will be held during Second Saturday Artwalk on 9/13 from 5pm to 9pm in the ArtLofts Gallery above Florida CraftArt.

What is encaustic? This ancient medium which literally means “to burn in” in Greek uses beeswax and heat to create luminous, layered art.

Both Susan and Francine are members of the Florida Wax group and have shown their work throughout Florida including Bok Towers, The University Club, The Bonvoy Marriott Hotel and Gallery Elan and the Lake County Art Museum. This unique exhibit will explore the two artists’ different approaches to a theme, including photo encaustic, collage and use of a stylus. In addition, the artists will be on sight conducting demonstrations during the evening reception on 9/13 from 6:30 to 7:30.
